"Cielo should always feel like the first glimpse of the coast: calm, luminous and full of possibility."
Brand statement
Overview

Cielo is a boutique guesthouse on the fourth floor of a building in Cangas do Morrazo, with views of the bay and the energy of a place that grew out of a personal story. Martina and Emilio, her husband from Galicia, turned a space they loved into something guests could share.

The brief was to build everything from scratch: brand identity, visual language, and a website that felt personal and unhurried — not like a booking platform, like a host who cares.

Logo

A wordmark made for
warm welcomes.

Three logo expressions — primary wordmark, simplified signature, and monogram — each built for a different context. Covers, signage, avatars. One identity system, three registers.

Colour

Warm, distinct,
unapologetically itself.

A warm, expressive palette drawn from tiled roofs, Atlantic light and long summer afternoons in Cangas. Three rooms — Agua, Tierra, Sol — each with their own colour and personality, all part of the same visual family.

Typography

Two fonts,
one conversation.

An editorial serif carries the warmth and intimacy of the brand — headlines, brand moments, emotional pull. A neutral sans handles everything else: calm, readable, never competing with the serif's presence. The contrast should feel like a host who knows when to speak and when to listen.

Voice

A voice as warm and welcoming
as summer.

The Cielo voice is personal, warm and unhurried — like a handwritten note from a host who genuinely cares. Speak to the guest, not about the guest.

01

Personal, not corporate

Write as a host, not a business. Use I, we, you, and your to create a sense of personal welcome.

"I run Cielo myself — no agency, no platform, no middleman. When you write to book, you're writing directly to me."

02

Warm, not formal

Keep language relaxed, human and unhurried. Avoid polished hospitality jargon.

"A home by the sea"

03

Specific, not generic

Use specific details, names and sensory language rather than generic claims.

"Bright yellow tiles and a thoughtful design make the shared bathroom a cheerful little space."

Copy guidance

  1. 01 / Speak in the first person when the owner speaks.
  2. 02 / Address the guest directly — use you and your naturally.
  3. 03 / Keep descriptions sensory, specific and rooted in place.
  4. 04 / Avoid hospitality clichés — no luxury, exclusive or world-class.
  5. 05 / Let the place speak for itself through honest, evocative detail.
Photography

Natural light, honest texture,
a lived-in point of view.

Fine geometry, characterful linework, natural materials, and sun-washed photography create a language that feels local, warm and quietly distinctive. Let place lead.

Prioritize coastal atmosphere, tactile interiors and unposed human details. Avoid hard flash, heavy filters and generic resort imagery.

Print & merchandise

A warm welcome,
in every format.

Keep layouts quiet and generous. Let one expressive logo, one coastal image, or one clear message lead. The identity extends from print to screen to everyday object with the same warmth and restraint.

Interior design

Every room is
part of the story.

The interior is as much a part of the brand as the logo. It reflects the coastal, warm character of the guesthouse — natural materials, daylight, and rooms that feel lived-in rather than staged.

01

Natural light first

Bright rooms opening up to the sky. Let daylight lead every space.

02

Calm, not minimal

Comfortable sofas, books, good light. Rooms should feel lived-in, not staged.

03

Color with purpose

Bright yellow tiles in the bathroom, warm earth in Tierra, coastal calm in Agua. Each space has its own palette story.

04

Honest materials

Linen, cotton, wood, ceramic tile. Prefer natural textures that age well. Avoid plastic, glossy finishes.

Materials

Every material
tells a story.

All interior design choices — from towels to kitchen appliances — should use natural materials. The goal is a space that feels like a home, not a hotel.

Always prefer

  • Natural linen
  • Quality cotton
  • Warm wood
  • Handmade ceramic

Avoid

  • Plastic
  • Glossy surfaces
  • Synthetic fabrics
  • Generic hotel furnishing

Prioritise used vintage wood over new plastic furniture. Age and character over novelty.

Website

Brand voice, typography, colour
and photography — together.

The website brings the full identity into a live digital context. Brand voice, typography, colour and photography working together — booking system included, no third-party platforms, no commission.

The site is fully bilingual (EN / ES) and built with SEO from the ground up — structured metadata, semantic HTML, alt text on every image, and page titles and descriptions written for search as well as for guests.
