"Designed to frame, never to compete. Through simplicity, monochrome, and considered contrast, the brand creates a distinctive space where photographs take the lead."Brand statement
Kris Sport Photography is the work of Kris, a photographer working with individual athletes, teams, clubs, and brands across triathlon, running, combat sports, padel, dance, kitesurfing, basketball, surfing, and more.
The practice is grounded in documentary photography — capturing what is actually happening, not staging it. Combined with a background in design, that means every frame is considered: light, composition, atmosphere. But the brand itself is deliberately quiet. A black background, restrained type, no decoration. Not because there is nothing to say, but because when the visual identity has nothing to say for itself, the photograph speaks louder.
Every decision in this guide — colour, type, voice, layout — serves one purpose: to put the image in front and get out of its way. The work is the brand. This guide exists to protect that.
The brand exists to carry the photograph — not to be noticed itself. These five principles define how the work is made, shown, and talked about. When in doubt, ask which choice makes the image stronger.
01
The image is the brand
No identity system, however well designed, should compete with the photograph. The visual brand is a frame — quiet, minimal, in service of the work inside it.
02
Documentary, not directed
Capture what is actually happening. Coaching, posing, and set-ups are kept to a minimum. The athlete's real effort — and the story that comes with it — is always the subject.
03
Energy and stillness, together
The work is as much about the moment before the race as the race itself. A body of work that is only peak action misses half the story. Both states matter equally.
04
Composition is craft
Framing, light, and atmosphere are considered at every shot — not incidental. Strong composition is what separates this work from event coverage, and it is non-negotiable.
The mark appears across all formats — website, photo book cover, exposition materials, and social media. In every context it stays the same: black on shell or shell on black, never decorated, never competing with the image it sits beside.
The palette is intentionally monochromatic. Black maximises contrast and pushes every image forward. The brand never competes with the work — the photographs are the only source of colour. This holds across every format: website, book, exposition print, and social media.
A condensed display face carries the athletic, scoreboard-and-bib-number energy of the brand; a plain, neutral sans keeps long-form copy readable and unshowy. The same pairing works across website, book, and exposition — nothing changes between formats. Never use the display face below 18px, and never set body copy in it.

I combine a documentary approach with a strong sense of composition and atmosphere, creating images that feel dynamic, honest, and personal.
Kris's voice is first-person, plain, and unhurried — like a photographer telling you plainly what they saw. Speak as Kris, not about Kris.
01
Confident, not hyped
State facts plainly. Skip the superlatives.
"I'm Kris, a photographer based in Vigo."
02
Specific, not generic
Let sports, countries, and competitions carry the credibility — not adjectives.
"Twelve seasons covering the Vuelta. Six World Cups on three continents."
03
Plain, not decorated
Name the emotion directly — focus, resilience, courage, energy — and stop there.
"The last climb. Nobody had anything left."
Kris photographs sport the way sport actually feels — not the highlight, but the whole arc. The effort before, the relief after, and the focused quiet in between. She works across triathlon, running, cycling, and more, building a body of work that treats athletes as individuals with a story rather than subjects in a frame.
The photography is documentary at its core: real moments, real light, real emotion. What sets it apart is the eye behind it — trained in design, drawn to composition and atmosphere. The result is images that are honest and deliberate at the same time.
The identity extends into print through two formats: a self-published photo book and a physical exposition. Both are built around the photographs — the brand is present, but quiet. The work carries the story; the materials just hold it.

The brand has been used across two formats — a limited-edition photo book, Triathlon Across Spain, and a physical exposition shown in Vigo. Both carry the same visual language: black and shell, restrained type, and the photograph always at the centre.
The website is built around the work. A dark canvas, full-bleed photography, and minimal navigation keep every page focused on the images. The gallery reshuffles on demand. The book page sells direct — no third-party shop, no checkout flow. One image, one price, one button.
The site is fully bilingual (EN / ES) and built with SEO from the ground up — structured metadata, semantic HTML, alt text on every image, and page titles and descriptions written for search as well as for readers.
